Project Description

The flat subject to renovation works is placed on the second floor of a 70’s building designed by Leonardo Savioli, who is considered one of the post second world war Florence architecture school Master: as many other works by the same designer the building has an exposed reinforced concrete structure allowing large windows shaded by wood sliding shutters leading to wide terraces

Interior is clearly divided in living/sleeping areas while an exposed concrete winding staircase leads to the attic connected to a roof terrace where it is possible to enjoy a nice Florence hills view.

The submitted design, beyond the systems maintenance, aimed to renovate the original project singular elements like wood shutters and winding staircase and provides for new furniture solutions: simple white laminate kitchen, MDF Italia dining table by Xavier Lust placed under well-known Sonora hanging lamp designed by Vico Magistretti for O Luce, customized oakwood light hanging cabinets. For this project I chose a different philosophy adapting the work to the original design strength without any overlapping attempt.
